The King’s Stage

In The King’s Stage, an existential horror micro RPG, players inhabit the roles of actors who only find life under the spotlight. Beyond the stage, they transform into dormant marionettes, their essence tied to the theater’s whimsical heartbeat. The repertoire spans from grand epics to tragic tales, with the mad Director (GM) steering the narrative’s unpredictable tide. Their highest aim is to captivate the mysterious King, in whose favor lies their fleeting existence.

The theater, a realm of shadows and whispers, holds its actors in a peculiar bondage. Within its walls, they exist vibrantly, yet step offstage, and they are but silhouettes, yearning for the next performance. This enigmatic sanctuary, where reality seems twisted, suggests a location untethered to any known geography, perhaps hinting at the proximity of an ancient, dream-like city.

The darkness in the auditorium hides the truth about the mysterious King. Some say he watches, judging their every move, while others doubt he’s even there.
